Getting started
What is ZaraFace?
ZaraFace turns your webcam into a live AI character studio. You pick a character (one of ours, or a photo of a face you have the right to use), press Go live, and the AI changes the face in your live video in real time. Use it for skits, streams and content, and record the result.
What do I need?
A laptop or desktop computer with the Chrome browser, a webcam (built-in is fine), good lighting on your face, and a stable internet connection of about 4 Mbps both up and down: good Wi-Fi, or a strong 4G/5G signal. Live video sends and receives video at the same time and uses a lot of data, so avoid connections that keep dropping.
Does it work on my phone?
ZaraFace works best in Chrome on a laptop or desktop. Phones can work, but the camera stops if you switch apps or lock the screen, which ends your session, and recording may not be available on some iPhones. For skits and streams, a laptop gives the most reliable results.
Can I try it for free?
Yes. Signing up is free, and the camera preview in the Studio is free, so you can check your camera and lighting. You only need credits to start a live AI session.
Troubleshooting
The studio says it can't connect
You aren't charged when a session can't connect. Live video needs a network that allows real-time video (the same kind of traffic as video calls). Some office, school, hotel and public Wi-Fi networks block it. Try this, in order: 1) Turn on your camera in the Studio: it checks your connection automatically and shows a message if there's a problem. 2) Turn off any VPN or proxy. 3) Switch to a different Wi-Fi or a phone hotspot. 4) If you use antivirus or a firewall app (for example its "web shield" or "network protection"), allow Chrome, or pause it briefly to test. 5) Use the latest Google Chrome; update it from the menu (Help → About Google Chrome), and avoid other browsers for now. 6) Close other apps that use your camera or a lot of internet, such as video calls or downloads. If it still doesn't work, contact us: we can see what went wrong on our side and help.
The video freezes or lags
Live video needs about 4 Mbps in both directions at the same time. Move closer to your Wi-Fi router, or use a cable if you can, and pause other downloads or streams. On mobile data, a strong 4G/5G signal helps. The Studio checks your connection when your camera turns on and warns you if it looks too slow.
Payments and credits
How much does it cost?
You buy credits: 1 credit = 1 second of live AI video, and credits cost ₦55 ≈ $0.04 each. Prices are in Nigerian naira (NGN); dollar amounts on our site are approximate. Every pack includes all features, and Paystack's card fee is added at checkout. See the Pricing page for current packs.
How do I pay?
Payments go through Paystack, using your card or the other options Paystack shows you at checkout. Cards from outside Nigeria are accepted. You're charged in Nigerian naira (NGN), and if your card uses another currency, your bank converts it at its own rate (it may add a small fee). We never see or store your card number.
When does billing start?
Billing starts when your live session connects. That includes a short warm-up of about 5 to 10 seconds while your character loads. You don't choose a length: when you press Go live, time is set aside from your credits automatically (up to 10 minutes, or whatever your balance covers). You only pay for the seconds you actually use (rounded up), and the rest goes straight back to your balance when you press Stop.
What if the session doesn't work?
If the transformed video doesn't appear within 20 seconds of connecting, you aren't charged for that session at all. If your connection drops, you only pay for the time you were connected.
I paid but my credits haven't arrived. What should I do?
Most payments show up within seconds. If yours hasn't after 30 minutes, contact us with your payment reference (it starts with "zf-"). We'll check with Paystack and sort it out.
Do credits expire?
Yes, 6 months after you get them. Credits from each purchase expire 6 months after that purchase, and credits we add to your wallet (for example a refund for a session) expire 6 months after they're added. Your oldest credits are always used first. We email you 14 days before any credits expire, and your Wallet page shows every expiry date. Credits you already had when this rule started are valid for 6 months from that day.
Safety and privacy
Can I use a celebrity's or someone else's face?
Only if that person has clearly agreed. Never use ZaraFace to impersonate a real person, for fraud or scams, for sexual content, with anyone under 18, or to harass anyone. Create original characters, use your own face, or get permission. Breaking these rules gets accounts banned.
Do I have to say my video is AI?
Yes. Whenever you share something made with ZaraFace, clearly say it's AI-generated, for example "Made with AI" or #AIgenerated, and don't crop out the watermark.
Do you store my video or photos?
No. Your camera video and the face photo go straight from your browser to our AI technology providers, and the result comes straight back. We don't store them on our servers. Our providers' own terms may allow them to keep and use them to improve their AI; our Privacy Policy explains this.
Can I record my videos?
Yes. Press Record during a live session, and the video downloads to your computer when you stop. Recordings include a small "AI · ZaraFace" watermark.
Who can use ZaraFace?
You must be 18 or older.
How do I report misuse?
Use the Report abuse form at the bottom of every page. You don't need an account, and we read every report.
